Following on from announcing Pamula Armin as the winner of our Win a Diamond competition, she has very kindly given us permission to share her winning story. Congratulations Pamula, we hope that it brings you and David much joy and happiness. Thank you for sharing your story…
“As a 16-year-old Saturday girl working at Watson’s confectioners on Southgate, Halifax, I can clearly remember looking in the window of Lister Horsfall whilst on my lunch break. I spotted a gorgeous yellow gold solitaire diamond engagement ring which I had had my eye on for weeks and weeks, longing that one day it would end up on the third finger of my left hand. My boyfriend knew how much I adored this ring and called into the shop to reserve it and paid off a small amount every week in order to pay for it. Finally, the ring was paid for and we got engaged on 30th June 1975, I was over the moon!
We went on to marry in December 1976 but sadly the marriage ended after 10 years. I still treasure my engagement ring and have in fact bequeathed it to my eldest daughter in my Will. Of note, I can clearly remember that the ring cost £37 which was a lot of money all those years ago!
I have now been with my current partner for 7 years, though he is an old flame whom I have known and loved dearly for the past 43 years. When we met again purely by chance, we both felt exactly the same about one another as we did all those years ago.
I would dearly love to win the diamond so that I can have it made into a special engagement ring to treasure and wear with pride as I spend the rest of my life with the love of my life. He came back into my life and enriched it with his genuine deep care and affection. He truly has saved me from the very dark place I had lived in for years and I look forward to every day spent with him for the rest of our lives together.”
What a wonderful story Pamula, we wish you both many years of happiness together!
