We’ve recently been following the Waves of Sustainability initiative, sponsored by Breitling, where ex-Team GB athletes Tommy Brady and David Bain are on a mission to circumnavigate the Western Isles by canoe. A campaign that will leave no trace behind, its aim is to raise awareness of non-biodegradable plastic and promote a more sustainable future.
After its launch on Saturday 4th May 2019 with a beach clean-up in collaboration with Breitling, the duo embarked on a 10 day kayak mission around the Outer Hebrides, documenting the increasing problem of non-biodegradable plastic being disposed of on UK shores and being washed into the ocean.
Having represented Team GB as canoeists and winning medals for Great Britain at World and European championships, Brady and Bain will utilise their remarkable experience to carry out this expedition, challenging them both physically and mentally.
Wearing the hardy Breitling Superocean Heritage II B01 Chronograph 44 throughout the expedition, the duo captured footage to bring to light how even the most remote areas of the UK are being damaged and offering tips for adventurers on how to reduce the use of plastic.
